So we can speak of a baseball player as a robot (pitches this fast, had this many hits, weighs this much, is this tall, etc.) and trade cards. Likewise, we get the stats on a Pokemon, and it is rather like a robot. But that is not so in the imagination. In the imagination it's something alive. And if we do something to it like ensure it is gleaming (gleaming daikon cards), it becomes even more valuable and living.
It simply does not make a lot of sense to me how intense people got when I played. It's almost like the hundreds of folks in downtown Springfield, Missouri, had seen a tweet saying, "There're a thousand dollars somewhere downtown, go find it!" or "Beyonce is in downtown Springfield. If the fantasy behind a game is strong enough, it can result in spinoffs. Conversely, something that is popular like Ultraman can lead to a game.
