At least four Pokémon Go maps are readily available: the first, at Pokémon GO Locations in Elwood Victoria 3184, absolutely nos in on your area and begins showing what Pokémon may be close by. Pokémon GO Locations in Port Phillip also provides a worldwide look at Pokémon areas, but without the sophistication of other sites. We all knew sponsored locations were coming to Pokémon GO?
Get a Pikachu: Like the original games, when you begin playing Pokemon Go, you can select one of three Pokemon as your first company: Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle. But there is a concealed fourth option, too: Pikachu. To get a Pikachu, you simply need just a little patience. You have to discount the first three Pokemon presented to you by Professor Willow and simply walk away. The three Pokemon will follow you around for a bit then evaporate before reappearing. Then you capture it. Catching Pikachu doesn't seem to have a strategic advantage since you'll likely encounter stronger ones later on, but why miss an opportunity to hang out from the start?
There are tons of articles out there already about gameplay and how the AR works, etc., etc. And there are likely a lot of local shops shooting queries up the chain about what the heck all these folks are doing standing in their own parking lot looking at their phones. But what does Pokemon Go mean for retailers?
I've got two angles: The immediate question of whether all these folks will mean anything to them, and the bigger issue of what makes Pokemon Go so compelling, and what retailers can learn from that for their customer involvement.
In spite of crippling server dilemmas and gruesome discoveries, Pokemon Go has soared to the top of app charts, added billions to the market value of Nintendo, and sold millions of dollars of Pokeballs and other virtual goods, as people participate in nostalgia for the first Pokemon games and discover the delights of playing games in public.
A very useful item for leveling up is the Lucky Egg. Using an egg sets off a 30-minute timer, during which you are going to gain double experience points. Be sure to use this wisely by consulting the table above to see which high-XP jobs you can finish in that 30-minute window. You might time a Lucky Egg with several Pokemon evolutions, or alongside a lure that sends lots of Pokemon your way, to get the most bang for your buck.
Pokemon Go is somewhat different from earlier games in the series because the Pokemon trainer---the small character you make at the start of the game---gains experience points to raise his or her degree. In the first games, each Pokemon has its experience points and amount, but not so in Go.
Throw a curve ball: Curveballs aren't only fashionable, they also increase a player's ability points if the technique results in a capture. To start a curve ball, move your finger in small circles on the screen while touching the ball after which toss it. It is still unclear if curveballs increase the odds of capturing a Pokemon, though they do give you an XP bonus. Some players say that's true, while others report it's more challenging.
Just how to throw a Pokball: Unlike the original games, you do not battle wild Pokemon in Go. Instead, you jump straight to catching them, which merely means flicking a Pokball on your phone screen at a Pokemon. Throw it too close or too much, and the Pokball will not do anything. You have to get it just right by really reaching the Pokemon. A green ring means the Pokemon is simple to catch, while a red one means it's tougher to catch. The rings also change in size as you hold down a Pokball. Your chances are improved, notably for harder-to-grab Pokemon, if the ring is smaller when you release the Pokball.
And then, as we were walking out of the park, we were met by a guy, phone out, who saw our telephones and immediately demanded to know if we were Red Team or Blue Team (the local gym is now owned by Red Team). We replied Red, to which he nodded his head. "Great." I was relieved -- for a moment the entire AR thing seemed like it might've headed in a overly-actual way if we had answered the wrong color.
Find nearby Pokemon: To see what Pokemon are lurking nearby, take a look at the bottom-right corner of your display. Clicking that menu will reveal outlines of up to nine nearby Pokemon, along with one to three footprints underneath each of them. The Pokemon in this menu is also sorted by the distance.
Yeah, third. And hey! I am a level 6 now!
Well, there may not be any guide to real life, but here is a guide to Pokemon Go.
One Blessed Egg is granted at level 9, and others at subsequent amounts. Lucky Eggs can also be purchased at the store with PokeCoins.
The game is deceptively complicated. In the beginning, it looks like all you do is roam about, getting arbitrary imitation creatures. But unlike many mobile games, Pokemon Go leaves most of its complexity unexplained. Much like in life itself, you're dropped into the world that you must master at exactly the same time as you find out how it works.
